Jonny published his first arrangement, "Theme A" from Tetris, in 2009. Nice soloing section at 2:24 to keep the piece fresh and keep the second half feeling powerful without dragging out.GaMetal is an alias for Jonny Atma (was also known as Jonny Death before April 2012) who arranges video game tracks into Heavy/Power Metal. There were times where the machine-gun-style drums were ZOMG TOO AGRO for me, and (more importantly/relevantly) crowding out other elements, but it was reasonably handled in the big picture, so I won't grandpa too much. This keeps the original's classic structure intact while seasoning it with live geetar and some of the most frenetic percussion I've ever heard. Onto Jonny's arrangement, "Gourmet Race" certainly lends itself well to super-intense renditions. "Oh snap, a wild Jonny appears! I've definitely heard of GaMetal years ago on the YouTubes, so I'm glad he finally made his way over here with a submission. ![]() The artist has done a great job polishing & expanding on his original arrangement and turning it into something that absolutely makes sense on OCR. This is of course the same source tune that the OverClocked Plaid Muffins arranged with a legendary ska vocal version back in 2011, but it DOES lend itself well to metal, too. Since my return last year, I've been redoing some songs I did before, and pretty much every time I do, I get a few people asking me to redo "Gourmet Race." It's been 3 songs since my last remake, and I had "Gourmet Race" stuck in my head one day, so I decided it was time. Despite it being bad, it was one of my most popular 2009 songs alongside Pokémon RBY Trainer Battle. ![]() I took a trip back 5 years and revisited one of my first game covers, the almighty "Gourmet Race." The old GaMetal version of this song was a lot simpler compared to this new and improved version, and it also sounded pretty bad. My name is Jonny Atma and I have a VGM project called GaMetal that I've been doing for about 5 years now, but I feel like my quality hasn't been up to par until recently, so now I'm giving OCR my first shot! "Hello, and thank you for taking the time to review my submission amongst the several others I'm sure you receive daily. HAPPY PRE-THANKSGIVING!! We'll be on vacation tomorrow, but in the spirit of giving thanks - and more importantly inhaling carbohydrates with reckless abandon - we give you a food-themed metal Kirby ReMix from newcomer GaMetal:
