In Season 2, Monk's group utility is in a lot better shape than it was for the first season of Dragonflight. Monks are excellent all-around tanks that can do everything pretty well and deal tons of damage, but they can require a lot of effort and practice to play well. Basically, you have to work harder to be competitive with simpler tanks. Monks can be - and are - competitive tanks in Mythic+, but they have a higher skill ceiling than Warriors and Paladins. That doesn't make Monks bad Mythic+ tanks, it just makes them different. You will need to make full use of your defensive and offensive cooldowns to achieve the same level of survivability that a Warrior has just by logging in and hitting Shield Block. The 25+ range is not an issue – but playing a Monk is less forgiving than tanks with more straightforward damage mitigation tools like Warrior and Paladin. Monks are more than adequate for all but the absolute pinnacle of pushing keys. Are Monks’ defensive shortcomings an issue in Mythic+? That really depends on how high you’re pushing, but eventually, yes, they wind up being weaker than Paladins at some point. This combined with their fantastic damage output makes them one of the best raid tanks in the game. Hasty Provocation is still a unique piece of utility for moving bosses around quickly, which can be very important! Their excellent burst mobility helps in raids, as well. It’s the hardest tank in the game to play to its full potential, but it’s extremely powerful once you get comfortable with it.īrewmaster’s collection of cooldowns combines with Stagger and Celestial Brew to make it perfectly suited for living through dangerous boss mechanics in raids. It just has so many more keybinds than other tanks, both in terms of rotational skills and cooldowns. The real issue with Brewmaster Monk is complexity. Brewmaster Monk self-healing is shockingly strong. The only numerical weakness Monk has is that it takes more damage than any other tank, but this is offset pretty comfortably by its damage smoothing and self-healing. Monks have a huge, powerful cooldown toolkit, high damage output, they are extremely mobile, and deals with burst damage better than any other tank. They are among the most powerful tanks in the game, both offensively and defensively. How Good is Brewmaster Monk in Dragonflight Season 2?īrewmaster Monk is in great shape right now.
